from the director

Director Katelyn Geri

The story of “Cinderella” dates back centuries. The first published European version was in the 1600s, with the more familiar Brothers Grimm version written in 1812. Whether you remember Julie Andrews (1957), Leslie Anne Warren (1965), Brandy (1997), or any of the countless other actresses that have portrayed the title role, one theme remains the same: wishes and dreams really can come true.

For some, these dreams and wishes are what sustain them through difficult and dark times. That glimmer of hope that something we feel is impossible is somehow within reach. This production has been that glimmer for me. My process started 7 years ago. Unforeseen circumstances and the pandemic caused delays, but I always found myself coming back to the source material. The music, the magic, but mostly, the hope.

I hoped for the perfect cast to walk through the doors of our audition rooms back in May, and that is just what I received. I have been beyond honored to work with old and new friends on this project. From PLT veterans to brand new actors in their first show ever, this cast and crew continue to make magic happen day after day, and for that, I am forever grateful to them. They have made my dreams come true.

My wish for you is that you not only enjoy the spectacle and magic that is Cinderella, but that you also hear the messages that come along with the magic. Impossible things happen every day and they often happen when you least expect them.

  • Katelyn
