Education Director
Reports to Artistic Director
Supervises teachers for eight levels of theatrical instruction
The Education Director is responsible for all aspects of the Pensaocla Little Theatre’s education programs, including the design, development, and execution of programs, workshops, classes, camps, and events consistent with the creative vision of the Artistic Director. This position is also responsible for the oversight of school field trips and outreach programming, ensuring exceptional audience experience while maximizing revenue and community engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and/or Education or equivalent, plus 3-5 years as an educator with a focus on Performing Arts. Effective communication skills, ability to deal with diverse creative personalities, and a commitment to provide excellent customer service are also required.

Job Description
- Work closely with the Artistic Director to develop and implement new educational programs.
- Administrate and oversee all classes, pre-k through high school – eight levels of theatrical instruction.
- Serve as the key point of contact for parents and students involved in all educational programs.
- Teach select classes per semester (required).
- Book all spaces for classes and rehearsals for Education-related events and shows.
- Administrate and develop Theatre Works University, an adult theatre education program
- Administrate and develop “Lab Rats” junior improvisation club.
- Create, print, and mail all educational brochures, programs, and posters.
- Develop class curricula and organize syllabi accordingly.
- Select three separate shows to direct and book for POP Tours (Performance Outreach Programs) performed year round in schools and day cares.
- Work selected nights and weekends as a Pensacola Little Theatre Staff Member.
- Work with Artistic Director to set budget for all Education Programming.
- Assist Artistic Director and Executive Director in writing grants for Education Programs.
- Assist Director of the Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company (SetsCo) with organization and development of the Company.
- Work closely with schools in surrounding counties to market Treehouse Theatre shows and outreach programs.
- Responsible for evaluation, recommendation, hiring (once approved), contracting, and making payroll arrangements for teachers.
- Supervise teachers and provide on-going evaluation of classes and teaching.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates programs for the year.
- Acts as a spokesperson for the organization’s artistic purpose via purpose via speaking engagements, public, and social appearances.
- Maintains written procedures manual for education staff.
- Responsible for ensuring high level of education in community theatre.
- Responsible for maintaining and growing community outreach.
It is the duty of the Education Director to maintain a high standard of performance. If problems arise or come to his attention, he will discuss these with the Artistic Director and other personnel involved in order to come to a speedy and satisfactory solution.
