When a neurotic, frustrated composer is confronted with a terminal illness, he finds comfort in the healing power of art. This is an energetic, sardonic, often comical musical about making the most out of life in the face of tragedy. The show is in fact the autobiographical account of William Finn’s own battle against a seemingly terminal illness.
