PENSACOLA LITTLE THEATRE MISSION

MISSION

Pensacola Little Theatre (PLT) is a nonprofit, community organization providing theatrical experiences that entertain, enrich, and educate adults and children in Northwest Florida. PLT is committed to providing quality presentations and participatory opportunities for community artists utilizing traditional, innovative, and collaborative programming. PLT presents plays and musicals, outreach programs, performances and classes for youth, and special theatrical events. PLT seeks to provide a forum for the development of new works and partners with local schools to nurture the artistic spirit of our children. The ultimate mission of Pensacola Little Theatre is to use the theatrical experience to enhance the cultural agenda of our community and to develop future generations of performers and patrons of the arts.

VISION

Our vision is to celebrate the importance of the arts in the life of our community by providing opportunities for people to use their talents in presenting theatrical productions in a state-of-the-art facility steeped in historic tradition. We believe that experiencing art in all its dimensions is vital to the fulfillment of civic and community life.

Pensacola Little Theatre seeks to engage participants in the creative process. This is a volunteer-driven, community organization. Participants engage as artists, using their imaginations and talents to explore universal themes and relevant issues. Participants engages as patrons, utilizing audience discussion programs as entryways into the artistic process. Participants engage as students and teachers, joining classes and production groups to develop artistic skills. We strive to draw many community members into the creative process to move them to change their lives, and possibly the world, in the process of making ART.

VALUES

Pensacola Little Theatre is a home for artists, audiences, teachers, students, and arts-minded volunteers in Northwest Florida. These goals and values guide our activities:

To present quality productions, selected from classic and contemporary works, which appeal to broad audiences and explore diverse points of view.
To engage volunteers with programs that develop the artist within each of us.
To encourage preservation of cultural traditions and historic venues in our community.
To provide artistic programming and training opportunities for young people.
To be known as a showcase for regional artists and their works.
To offer good working conditions for volunteers and staff so that everyone can fulfill the potential of his or her talent.

To build an audience that reflects the diversity of our community by attracting younger and non-traditional patrons.

To contribute leadership and resources to the cultural life of our community.

To operate the organization in a prudent and fiscally responsible manner, underwriting our ability to offer quality entertainment at reasonable cost in an attractive facility.

These programs are sponsored by grants from the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs; Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources; The Florida Arts Council;  and funded, in part, by donors to the United Arts Funds of the Arts Council of Northwest Florida.
