Beyond Boundaries
Audiences throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties are getting a taste of theatre without leaving their neighborhoods. Pensacola Little Theatre’s Beyond Boundaries program presents free or low-cost performances at area community centers, assisted living facilities, schools and other venues. The goal is to give new and different entertainment experiences to people who might not otherwise have a chance to enjoy a live performance. Beyond Boundaries is sponsored by Whitney Bank.
Beyond Boundaries began in 2008 with a grant from Pensacola Bay Area Impact 100. This start-up funding paid for a new truck, portable stage, lighting gear and sound equipment, providing everything we need to take a show on the road.
For the 2010-2011 Season, Beyond Boundaries is visiting local schools with a show about healthy eating called “Cooking It!” This interactive program involves selected students as actors and puppeteers. After a week of rehearsal with our trained performers, these students take center stage for a performance in front of the whole school.
Performances of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” are also available for community bookings. In this magical production, two performers take on a variety of roles for a fanciful and engaging retelling of C.S. Lewis’ classic tale about four children lost in the fantasy world of Narnia.
